Fox Soccer Channel To Broadcast Premier League Title Deciders

In the heated race for the 2010-2011 Premier League title, the two games that may decide who will be crowned champion this season will both be featured on Fox Soccer Channel. In one week in May, Fox Soccer Channel will broadcast both the Arsenal versus Manchester United game (May 1) and Manchester United against Chelsea (May 8). Depending on what happens between now and those matches among the top three in the Premier League, either of those games may help decide the fate of the Premier League title winner.

In other TV-related news for soccer fans, the Premier League today announced that they’ve shifted the kick-off times for all of the Premier League matches on the weekend of May 14. Typically the FA Cup Final is played after the season ends. But this season, the Champions League Final is scheduled on May 28 at Wembley Stadium, the location where the FA Cup Final is played. UEFA rules dictate that the venue for the Champions League final cannot stage a match in the preceding two weeks so the FA Cup final will take place a week before the end of the Premier League season.

To accomodate the changes, the Premier League have scheduled an unprecedented five matches for the 7:45am ET kick-off time on Saturday, May 14. However, some of those matches may need to rescheduled again because one or more of the FA Cup finalists may be featured. For example, Manchester United plays away at Blackburn. If United makes it to the FA Cup Final, that Premier League match will be played on Tuesday, May 17. Manchester City is also scheduled to play at 7:45am ET that day, against Stoke. But if City makes it to the FA Cup Final, their Premier League match against the Potters will be rescheduled for another date. The same applies to Stoke City if they beat Bolton in the FA Cup semi-final. Similarly, Bolton Wanderers are scheduled to play at 7:45am ET against Blackpool.

Confusing? A little. But the way I see it, the scheduling of those games in those time slots can be seen as a placeholder until the results are finalized from the FA Cup semi-finals scheduled for the weekend of April 16.
