Women’s Euro 2022 on ESPN to air across TV and streaming

ESPN plans comprehensive Women’s Euro 2022 coverage across July, with the vast majority of games on TV, according to a World Soccer Talk source.

Scheduled to begin July 6 live from Old Trafford in England, the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 schedule of games feature matches between many of the best teams in the world from women’s soccer. For instance, Euro 2022 features France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and England. Altogether, Euro 2022 is well positioned to be the preeminent soccer competition this summer.

Our information is that the vast majority of games will air across ESPN television networks. Consequently, only a minor number will stream exclusively on ESPN+.

That’s positive news for soccer fans as the competition is an exciting one to watch. Getting the games into more homes always helps grow the game.

Women’s Euro 2022 on ESPN to come from England

England hosts the competition for the first time since 2005. There are 10 different stadiums in use for the tournament spanning just under a month in July. The biggest of the stadiums are Old Trafford in Manchester, which hosts the opening game between England and Austria. Then, Wembley Stadium in London hosts the Final.

A recent report claimed that ticket sales in England for the Women’s Euros are through the roof. As of March 28, UEFA announced that they already sold over 300,000 total tickets for the upcoming matches. This number already sets the record for the most tickets sold to a Women’s Euro tournament. The previous record was in 2017 with just over 240,000 tickets sold. With three months still remaining before the first match, ticket sales are expected to increase even more heading into the tournament.

For Spanish-language coverage, TUDN holds the rights to the broadcasts in the United States. As of press time, TUDN (i.e. TelevisaUnivision) have released no details about their coverage plans.
