Zamora Indebted to Fulham

Bobby Zamora has today put pen to paper on a new four-year-deal at Fulham. The forwards commitment to stay at Craven Cottage demonstrates a massive coup for Fulham and Mark Hughes who had admitted he had to fight to hang on to his star striker.

Zamora’s career resembles a roller-coaster of highs and lows. After scoring goals galore for Brighton, the young goal-getter made the move to the Premier League, but things didn’t really work out for Zamora at White Hart Lane, and after just 18 games in a Spurs shirt he was on the move once again.

West Ham brought Zamora to Upton Park and he was able to help the Hammers back in to the top flight. However after his early success he eventually fell out of favour, mainly down to injuries and a lack of goals.

It was then that Fulham moved for Zamora and after a disappointing first season he began to prove his critics wrong in spectacular style. He scored 19 times in all competitions as Fulham exceeded all expectations to reach the final of the Europa League.

Zamora’s form was nothing short of superb as he fired himself to the verge of the England squad. Had it not been for an untimely knee injury I personally have no doubt that he would have travelled to South Africa.

Few would feel anything but pleasure at seeing Zamora’s late rise to success. In an era of overpaid stars he demonstrates superb work-ethic coupled with determination that has seen him improve drastically to become one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League.

His loyalty to Fulham demonstrates his character as he stays with the club that has helped him so much and hopefully over the coming months he can continue to develop in to a lethal forward for club and country.
