Real Madrid’s 2014/15 Black Third Kit Reviewed: [PHOTOS]

The 2014/15 Real Madrid third kit, to be officially released on August 26, is eye-catching to say the least.

This new alternate uniform was created specially by award-winning Japanese fashion designer, Yohji Yamamoto, and unsurprisingly, it looks nothing like your average football kit.

The jersey, all black with white details, features two intertwined dragons sprawled across the torso. This motif – a symbol of power in some Asian cultures – is thought to be a tribute to Real’s Champions League-Copa del Rey double last season.

This sleek number definitely bears the unmistakable mark of its designer. All three of Los Blancos’ 2014/15 kits feature the same design template, which is notable for its round, buttoned collar. The inside of the third kit collar is inscribed with the Yamamoto’s signature, while the club’s crest has been given a splash of black and white paint to match the shirt’s colour scheme.

The strip is completed by the familiar commercial presence of manufacturer Adidas – in its 17th straight season adorning the kit of Los Merengues – and Fly Emirates. Logos of both companies are in white, providing a striking contrast to the base colour of the shirt.

The shorts and socks are both black with white detail.

While this kit’s inventive design may stop it from becoming an all-time classic, it’s certain to provide a splash of glamour and intrigue to Real’s away matches this season. Some may question the appeal of a dragon-themed third strip, but having recently captured La Decima, Madrid are entitled to proudly don this innovative uniform on the world’s stage.

The Real Madrid third kit will be available in stores and online later this month, retailing at around €85 ($113). Check out Real Madrid’s third kit for 2014/15
