Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas can break a 40-year old club record for the longest streak without conceding a goal if the Costa Rica international maintains his current form against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
Currently, Real Madrid are the only La Liga side not to have conceded a goal this season, and Navas has kept clean sheets in all five of his starts – both domestically and in Europe.
Should the Costa Rican remain unbeaten during the first 72 minutes at the San Mames he will break Miguel Angel’s club record of 431 minutes without conceding a goal – which the former Spain international achieved during the 1975-76 campaign.
Just a few weeks ago, Real Madrid were set to sell Navas to Manchester United as part of a deal which would have brought David de Gea to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite the chaos and mixed emotions of the deal which would have seen him shipped off to England, Navas has remained focused on maintained his professionalism and high standards in goal for the Spanish giants.
The Costa Rica international was signed by Real Madrid from Levante in August 2014, where he was named La Liga’s best goalkeeper during the 2013-14 campaign. The 28-year-old has widely been considered one of the best keepers in the world, gaining global recognition after his standout performances during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The next milestone for Navas would be the league record held by Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who set the mark last season by going 754 minutes without conceding a goal. The Chilean shot stopper went on to record 22 clean sheets for La Blaugrana during the 2014-15 campaign helping his side lift the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League trophy.
