Julian Draxler Move to Arsenal Could Be Blocked By Spurs Stopping Lewis Holtby's Move to Schalke

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to block a move for Lewis Holtby to move back to Schalke, which could prevent the Bundesliga club from selling Julian Draxler to Arsenal, according to a report today in The Daily Mirror.

Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy doesn’t want to hurt his own team’s chances of Champions League qualification by giving Arsenal an advantage. He already indirectly helped the sale of Mesut Ozil to Arsenal last summer by selling Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, so Tottenham are now prepared to try to block or delay Holtby’s move back to Germany. Draxler, a highly rated attacking midfielder, would fit in perfectly at Arsenal.

Schalke General manager Horst Heldt said: “We are still hopeful Julian (Draxler) is to stay on at our club. However, there are certain arrangements we cannot change.”

Whether or not the above story is just paper talk or if there’s some weight to the story, we’ll have to wait and see.
