Everton Announce Pre-Season US Tour

Everton will return to the United States for a preseason tour this summer. The Toffees will play a friendly against D.C. United on Saturday, July 23 at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. It’ll be the first time Everton will be revisiting North America since their last tour in the summer of 2009 when they played against River Plate and MLS All-Star team.

The match, which will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides, will feature Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard. Individual game tickets will go on sale Monday, March 28 for $30 at the Spectator level, $40 at Premium level, $50 at VIP level and $60 at the Mezzanine level.

“I’m really looking forward to playing at RFK again,” said Howard. “It’s a stadium I know well and D.C. United is a club I know well. They’ve been successful in the States over the years and it will be great to play against them with Everton.”

“We’re looking forward to going back to America,” said Everton manager David Moyes. “We’ve been a few times now and the facilities are always first-class,” said Moyes.

Additional fixtures for the rest of Everton’s 2011 summer tour have not yet been released. Everton, founded in 1878, are the second Premier League club who’ll be touring the United States this summer. Manchester United will conduct a five-city tour of the United States this summer featuring matches against Barcelona, Seattle Sounders, Chicago Fire, MLS All-Star team and New England Revolution.
