With 6 games left, the race for the title in La Liga is very close with four teams still having a realistic shot at winning it all. Barcelona are currently in first but have been in less-than-stellar form recently. They managed to eke out a 1-0 win over Levante this past weekend. There are also more problems off the field as fan favourite Javier Saviola has gone to the press with his disappointment that the Barca bosses had reneged on their promise of offering him a new deal. This will breathe new life into the rumours that he will join rivals Real Madrid this summer.
As for the former galacticos, they are surging with a 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao and if they continue their form they look to be the strongest challenger to Barca. Sevilla are distracted by defence of their UEFA Cup crown though they also took a turn at thrashing Bilbao by a score of 4-1 back on April 22. Valencia are six points back at the moment and while still in it, they would have to be considered the dark horse candidate at the moment. They look like they will be back in European competition next season, either in Champions League or UEFA Cup.
