Beginner's Guide to the English Premier League (EPL)

On August 17, the new season of the 2013-14 English Premier League season will kick off. For viewers in the United States, the league games will be available to the mainstream more readily than ever before with 20 matches scheduled to run over-the-air, as well as every game being shown live via an assortment of networks and options, which can — for new fans to the leagues — seem overwhelming.

At the same time, the number of competitions and how the Premier League is run may seem confusing to sports fan that are accustomed to how other sport leagues are run.

If you’re new to the Premier League and fascinated by the action and history, where do you go for background information so you can get up to speed on the Premier League as well as the 20 teams that compete?
