Atletico into Champions League semi-finals

Leicester (United Kingdom) (AFP) – Atletico Madrid battled into the Champions League semi-finals for the third time in four seasons on Tuesday and ended Leicester City’s debut run in Europe’s elite competition.

The Spanish side went through 2-1 on aggregate after the two sides drew 1-1 on the night at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

A Saul Niguez first-half header left the English Premier League champions needing to score three times to go through, and although Jamie Vardy pulled a goal back in the second half and Leicester bombarded the away goal, Atletico held on.
