Swansea City Sign Ecuador Winger Jefferson Montero On 4-Year Deal

Swansea City announced today that they have made their fifth summer signing in the form of Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero. The transfer fee is reported to be £4million.

Montero, 24, has arrived at the club from Mexican top flight club Monarcas Morelia on a four year deal. The winger has scored 8 goals in 43 appearances for his nation and played in all three of their World Cup games. He also won the 2007 Pan-American in Brazil games with his country, netting in the 2-1 final victory over Jamaica.

Known as a quick and tricky winger, Montero also has experience in Europe, playing with Villarreal, Levante and Real Betis before his two year stint in Mexico.

Montero has joined Swansea for training today and becomes Garry Monk’s fifth summer signing, joining Gylfi Sigurdsson, Bafetimbi Gomis, Marvin Emnes and Stephen Kingsley at the Liberty Stadium.

The addition of Montero to Swansea will give manager Garry Monk plenty of options for the upcoming season with wingers such as Sigurdsson, Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge competing alongside Montero for places on the team.

Meanwhile, Swansea midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo has joined Rayo Vallecano for an undisclosed fee. The Spaniard joined the Swans in 2013 for £425,000 but was unable to make an impact in the Welsh side.
