Real Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis has decided to sign with Wigan Athletic instead of West Ham United. The Spanish centreback originally agreed a deal to join West Ham United, but the Spanish-speaking influence of Wigan manager Roberto Martinez convinced the player to join the Latics instead. Ramis is currently undergoing a medical before being named Wigan’s first big signing of the summer.
Also as an aside, since we launched the new morning story roundup post in May, this is the first ever ‘EPL News and Links’ that doesn’t contain a single story from The Guardian. Come on Guardian, get on it!
