Paris (AFP) – Italy international striker Alessandro Matri has joined Sassuolo from Serie A rivals AC Milan, the two clubs said on Tuesday.
A fee for the 31-year-old journeyman, who had been loaned out to Lazio, Juventus, Fiorentina and Genoa in recent seasons by Milan, was not disclosed but the contract is for two years.
After coming through the youth team in Milan, Matri’s most successful spells came at Juventus where he played a part in three league titles. He also has seven caps with Italy.
Sassoulo came sixth in the Italian league last year, one place above Milan, and two above Lazio where he played 31 matches on loan, scoring seven goals.
