Fulham Sign Tottenham Midfielder Scott Parker On a Three-Year Deal

Fulham have signed Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Scott Parker on a three-year deal. The transfer fee is reportedly £2million.

Last week, Queens Park Rangers had agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Parker, but the player had to decide whether he wanted to take a step down to the Championship to play with Harry Redknapp’s side.

Instead, Fulham swooped in for Parker and offered him a deal to stay with a Premier League side.

By doing so, Scott Parker increased the average age of Fulham’s squad. Last season, they had the oldest average age in the Premier League other than Stoke City and QPR.

Speaking from Fulham’s Motspur Park Training Ground this evening, Scott Parker said:

“I’m delighted to be joining Fulham and I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates at training tomorrow morning. Fulham is an established Premier League club and I look forward to trying to help the team progress even further over the next three years.”

Martin Jol added:

“I’m delighted that Scott has joined us. He’s a midfielder who works tirelessly for his team and is a fantastic player both on and off the ball. It is wonderful to see a player of his stature playing for Fulham Football Club as he has shown his qualities in the Premier League and for the England team for many years. I’m happy that he’s here and joins us for training ahead of our first home match of the season.”

In the past week, Fulham manager Martin Jol has signed Adel Taarabt and Darren Bent.
