Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole Released By Chelsea

Frank Lampard

Chelsea veterans Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole have been released by Chelsea Football Club.

Lampard, 35, joined Chelsea in 2001 from West Ham United. During his 13 years at Chelsea, he played in more than 420 matches and won medals in 3 Premier Leagues, 4 FA Cups, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 Europa League and 2 League Cups.

Cole, meanwhile, joined Chelsea in 2006 from Arsenal and — like Lampard — won several medals as well as earning 107 caps with the England National Team. During his prime, he was considered as one of the best left backs in the world.

There’s no indication yet what Lampard and Cole will decide to do, but there’s no doubt that there’ll be a long line of clubs interested in signing the players on a free transfer as long as they can afford the player wages.

The Stamford Bridge club have also released Mark Schwarzer, Samuel Eto’o, Hilario and Sam Hutchinson.
