EPL Commentators on NBC: Dec. 26 and Dec. 27

The annual Boxing Day schedule of fixtures is something all Premier League fans look forward to each season.

Despite recent concerns with COVID-19 and its ensuing effects on EPL contests, the schedule will roll along. Recently, the Premier League made it clear that fixtures will continue as scheduled where it is safe to happen. Essentially, that means if any more COVID-19 outbreaks happen, the involved clubs will reschedule.

So, where does that leave us for Boxing Day? Well, there are six games lined up for Boxing Day, with the gameweek 19 finale taking place on Monday, December 27.

On Sunday, the games start in the 10 a.m. window. Premier League Live follows both morning windows before Goal Zone concludes the day’s action.

That action features a number of interesting fixtures. Perhaps the most notable of those is a game between Manchester City and Leicester City. Pep Guardiola’s side continues to hum along with their league-leading 44 points through 18 games. City now has a three-point buffer on Liverpool and a six-point edge on third-place Chelsea. On the other hand, Leicester’s up and down form puts the Foxes at ninth in the table.

Other interesting games include Tottenham hosting Crystal Palace and the defending European Champions, Chelsea, traveling to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

For the first time since 2009, Manchester United will not feature on the Boxing Day lineup. Instead, the Manchester United game at St. James’ Park against Newcastle is on Monday afternoon. Originally, it would have been the fourth time these two sides met on Boxing Day since 2012.

There is a quick turnaround into the next set of games, with fixtures scheduled for Tuesday through Wednesday following Boxing Day.

EPL Commentator Schedule: Gameweek 19

A number of clubs have different numbers of games played this season due to COVID-19 issues. The idea behind “gameweek 19” may seem slightly abstract with clubs like Manchester United, Brentford or Leicester only playing their 17th games of the season in the league. Moreover, Tottenham’s contest against Crystal Palace is Spurs’ 16th league game this season.
