Stoke's Geoff Cameron Attracting Interest from 9 European Clubs

US international Geoff Cameron has as many as nine clubs trying to sign him this summer, according to reports in the Stoke Sentinel newspaper.

Cameron has been used primarily as a make shift right back over the past two seasons at the Britannia, though with the introduction of Phil Bardsley from Sunderland on a free transfer, that position may be under threat.

The American is more comfortable in the centre back role or in midfield than right back, though it is as of yet unclear if Stoke City manager Mark Hughes sees him featuring in those positions regularly. US boss Jurgen Klinsmann would favor a move away if it meant more time in his favoured positions.

The clubs, five in England and four in the German Bundesliga, are all interested in the 29-year old. Sunderland and Hull have widely reported interest, though the Stoke Sentinel also names West Brom, Swansea and Southampton as the remaining clubs interested in the footballer. With Dejan Lovren departing Southampton for Liverpool, perhaps a move to a regular spot at centre back could tempt Cameron. Though Stoke are in no real hurry to sell, Cameron could well want a move away whilst he is still at the peak of his career.
