After a couple weeks of cup action, the Premier League returns as the calendar enters February. This weekend does not have a full slate of games that necessarily jump off the screen.
However, when that happens there tends to be more drama than expected. Hopefully that is the case this weekend. Also, most of these games are repeats of games earlier this month. Just the way the season worked out.
Let’s start with the end of the weekend. The last game of the upcoming slate of Premier League games is the best when it comes to standings in the table. Tottenham Hotspur hosts Manchester City. Antonio Conte will not be on the sideline as he recovers from gallbladder surgery. The game between these two earlier in the campaign was fairly entertaining. City overturned a two-goal halftime deficit to win, 4-2.
The first game of the weekend is also an interesting one. Fulham hosts Chelsea in a London derby. The return leg of this game at Craven Cottage led to Joao Felix’s red card in his debut. Fulham won, but this is a whole new Chelsea side.
In the relegation battle, Nottingham Forest against Leeds United is a particularly interesting game. Plus, it could be the debut of Weston McKennie in what is now truly an American side with three players and an American manager.
NBC coverage
Rebecca Lowe is back in the studio after success down in Orlando with NBC’s Fan Fest. She is joined by Robbie Earle and Danny Higginbotham. For Friday’s buffer coverage, Cara Banks fills in for Rebecca Lowe.
GOAL RUSH is in action for the 10 a.m. slate of games, when there are five kickoffs at the same time. Stream the whip-around show on Peacock, as it focuses on one game with jumps into others.
Also, there are games in 4K this weekend. Those are Everton-Arsenal and the Spurs-City contest. Make sure to see if you have the subscriptions and hardware to watch in higher resolution.
