Sepp Blatter has been re-elected as FIFA President, and will serve his fifth term from 2015-2019.

The voting was conducted on Friday in Zurich by members of the FIFA organization. Blatter defeated Prince Ali of Jordan at the 65th FIFA Congress.

With Prince Ali’s defeat, Blatter will continue his role as FIFA President and will embark on a campaign to restore trust in FIFA especially after this week’s arrests of several FIFA officials on corruption charges.

In the first round, Blatter won the majority of votes in the first and only round of voting by 133-73. It wasn’t a two-thirds majority, however, which means that a second round of voting would be required to determine the winner.

But with Prince Ali of Jordan 60 votes behind Sepp Blatter, Prince Ali decided to withdraw from the race, which means that Sepp Blatter has been elected President of FIFA.
