Premier League Saturday: April 20, 2013

With no early or late kick-off, today’s Premier League matches take on an unusual twist by having seven matches all played at once. It’s a good day for multi-tasking, but a bad time for trying to savor every minute of the best matches.

The biggest match of the day is arguably Queens Park Rangers against Stoke City in a relegation battle at Loftus Road. This one could either be a barnstormer or one of the most boring matches of the year. Let’s hope it won’t be a nil-nil draw.

Elsewhere in London, Fulham plays Arsenal where the Gunners have a chance to further extend their lead over Tottenham Hotspur. Across town, West Ham United are at home against Wigan. Roberto Martinez’s side will want to get a win to begin their ascent up the table.

Speaking of a side fearful of relegation, Newcastle United play away at West Bromwich Albion. Norwich, too, aren’t safe for another season, so they’ll want to give a good showing against Reading. If the Canaries fail to get all three points here, expect the pressure to mount on manager Chris Hughton.

In the last two matches of the day, Sunderland will want to continue their fine form against Newcastle with a win, or at least a draw, against Everton at the Stadium of Light. And last but not least, Swansea will be hoping for their first win since March 2 when they play Southampton at the Liberty Stadium.
