It’s never a boring day in the Premier League as a practical joke backfired horribly today at Stoke City.
US midfielder Brek Shea posted an image on social media of a bloody pig’s head that had been placed in the locker of Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones. The Trinidad and Tobago international didn’t see the funny side of the joke (he’s a Rastafarian and does not eat pork), and then – in retaliation – threw a brick through Glenn Whelan’s car window. Stoke City are now internally investigating the matter.
“The Club takes seriously reports of an incident at our Training Ground this afternoon,” said a statement from Stoke City. “A full internal investigation will be carried out and those responsible for any unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with in accordance with the Club’s disciplinary procedures.”
It must be the end of the season, ‘eh?
