2022/23 Premier League prediction: Make your decisions now

There are no guarantees when making the 2022/23 Premier League predictions. On paper, any of the traditional ‘big six’ teams could win the title. Just as likely, those teams could flounder and put out a disappointing season.

Take Manchester United as an example from last season. Bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane looked like title-challenging moves. However, the club’s shortcomings yielded significant changes in both the squad and, of course, the manager. A sixth-placed finish almost pushed the club into the Europa Conference League. Yet, they enter with a renewed sense of confidence under the guide of Erik ten Hag.

Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and the defending champions, Manchester City, all finished the season fairly strong in 2021/22. With major acquisitions for each of those teams this summer, Premier League glory is the aim. Same goes for Arsenal. Despite a difficult close to the season, Gabriel Jesus comes over from Manchester City to put the finishing touches, literally and figuratively, on Mikel Arteta’s project at the Emirates.

The competitive nature of the Premier League could lead to any of those teams putting out incredible performances or massive letdowns. Big-club performances also make the threat of relegation overwhelming for some teams. Last season’s relegation battle almost sent Leeds and Everton down to the Championship. Those are two important clubs in the history of the Premier League. Therefore, it is anybody’s guess who suffers that fate this season. Can Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth, three returners to the Premier League, stay up?
