Berlin (AFP) – Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is expected to be fit for Saturday’s Bundesliga showdown with Borussia Dortmund after an injury suffered playing for the Netherlands turned out to be less serious than feared.
Robben, 32, came off at half-time in the Netherlands’ 3-1 win in Luxembourg in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday with a sore thigh after scoring in the first half.
In a statement on their website, Bayern said “a thorough examination by FCB club medic Dr Volker Braun revealed that the winger has not sustained a major injury.
“The Dutchman will be available for selection in the Bundesliga meeting with Borussia Dortmund next Saturday.”
Robben’s team-mates Jerome Boateng (knee) and Franck Ribery (muscle) trained normally on Monday but their availability for Saturday’s game has not yet been confirmed.
Bayern are level on points with RB Leipzig at the top of the Bundesliga table after 10 games ahead of Saturday’s trip to the Signal Iduna Park for the ‘Klassiker’ against fifth-placed BVB.
