Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund has special TV coverage planned for viewers in the United States this weekend. The top two teams in the Bundesliga are on ABC on Saturday afternoon, with a spot at the top of the table on the line. Bayern Munich is trying to protect its hegemony at the top of Germany with an eleventh-straight title. However, Borussia Dortmund is the team with the lead after 25 games in the German top flight.

This rivalry has been extremely one-sided over recent seasons. The last time Borussia Dortmund defeated the Bavarian giants in all competitions was in the 2019/20 season in the German Supercup. In league play, it has been nine games since Dortmund’s last defeat over Bayern, with Bayern winning eight of those. However, Dortmund did pick up a draw at home earlier in this campaign. Picking up another one of those, or even a win, could clear the path to a potential title.

No stops pulled on Der Klassiker

In addition to the game broadcasting on ABC, ESPN is using extensive coverage to get fans ready for the biggest game of this Bundesliga season. On ESPN+, pre-game coverage for the derby clash starts 60 minutes before the game kicks off on Saturday. ABC’s coverage begins 30 minutes before kickoff.

While Kay Murray and Alejandro Moreno will be in the United States, there will be a set of three reporters on the field in Munich. That consists of Archie Rhind-Tutt, former German international Arne Friedrich and Bayern Munich icon Bastian Schweinsteiger.

During the game, coverage is available on ABC, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+. Moreover, ESPN+ will have a separate feed of a tactical camera during the game.

Massive Der Klassiker

Despite the fact that there is a top-of-the-table standing at stake in this game, there are abundant storylines to follow. Perhaps none of those is bigger than the first game for Thomas Tuchel as manager of Bayern Munich. The German club sacked Julian Nagelsmann during the international break. It quickly brought in Thomas Tuchel, who managed Borussia Dortmund for two seasons. Bayern Munich previously attempted to acquire Tuchel in 2018, but the German coach denied the request.
