Ghana and South Korea will play each other in their last tune-up match before heading to Brazil. The friendly, scheduled for June 9 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, features a game where both managers will hope on avoiding injuries but will expect their players to perform well after each nation struggled in their last match.

South Korea’s match against Tunisia last week didn’t go well as the Reds lost at home 1-0. Manager Hong Myung-Bo told the media after the loss, “We weren’t at our best. We know that we have to improve and we are confident that will happen in the next few weeks.”

Ghana, on the other hand, went to Rotterdam this past Saturday to face European power and 2010 World Cup finalist Netherlands. The Black Stars did not make an impact, losing 1-0 due to a Robin van Persie strike in the fifth minute. Ghana suffered a blow when central defender and potential starter Jerry Akaminko suffered an ankle injury that will mean that he will miss the World Cup and will be out for at least three months. Other than AC Milan’s Michael Essien and Juventus’ Kwadwo Asamoah, coach James Kwesi Appiah went for a starting line-up that featured the younger talent on the squad and fringe players attempting to make the final 23-man roster. The former Ghana international stated in the press conference that the match helped him exponentially in finalizing his roster and that the team could learn from the experience.
