Christopher Nkunku already completed Chelsea medical – reports

Reports in Germany suggest versatile star Christopher Nkunku already completed a medical for Chelsea. Bild has claimed that Nkunku received a not-so-secret medical in Frankfurt earlier in the current campaign. The Blues are apparently attempting to jump the gun on a transfer for the 24-year-old forward/midfielder.

The Telegraph’s Matt Law confirmed the German outlet’s report. “Understand reports from Germany that RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku has already undertaken a medical ahead of a proposed move to Chelsea next summer are accurate,” stated Law.

Meanwhile, French journalist Loic Tanzi dismissed claims that the medical took place for Chelsea. “Christopher Nkunku has not had a medical visit with Chelsea,” Tanzi wrote on Twitter. “He was in Frankfurt for medical appointments related to an insurance contract. Nothing to do with a transfer to London.”

Chelsea targets Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku

Nevertheless, it certainly appears as if Chelsea want Nkunku. The Blues have struggled to score so far this season. They have managed just eight goals in six Premier League matches at this point of the current campaign.

Nkunku can definitely put the ball in the back of the net. The France international already has six goals in 11 total matches with Leipzig so far this season. He even managed an astounding 20 goals and 13 assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances during the 2021/22 campaign as well.

Despite his impressive statistics, Nkunku apparently has a release clause that can be triggered next summer for around $59 million. Although still a nice chunk of change, a player with his abilities could fetch significantly more money in the open transfer market.

Along with Chelsea, many other big clubs around Europe would be circling to sign Nkunku next summer. Fans of the Premier League team will hope that new owner Todd Boehly makes a move for the star as soon as possible.
