As a tribute to the beloved 80’s comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, MLS and KickTV have released their own version staring the reigning MLS MVP and Chicago Fire’s Mike Magee in “One Player’s Struggle to Take it Easy” featuring an all-star group of America’s best MLS players including Omar Gonzalez, Thierry Henry, Hope Solo, Sydney Leroux and Michael Bradley.
A play off the classic movie staring Matthew Broderick, watch as Magee, Gonzalez and Leroux skip practice and take over Chicago starting with faking sick to get out of the Fire’s practices. After trying to get into a very upscale restaurant with Henry as the host raising a questionable eyebrow at Magee’s identity, eventually the trio is seen driving around in his red convertible by Solo who questions whether or not Magee is really sick then runs back to his house, but not before stopping in on a parade put on by the “Fire Fans”. The short video highlights all the classics of the film, even Magee using an electric keyboard to prove to his teammates that he really is sick using varying keys and some very fake coughing.
Magee reminds us that “Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and catch a game once in awhile you might miss it,” while Bradley is driving Magee’s convertible.
We see the video end with a small highlight reel of some of Magee’s best goals and celebrations with his teammates.
