West Bromwich Albion have announced that they’ll be conducting their preseason training in the United States this summer with friendlies scheduled against MLS’ Orlando City Soccer Club, and USL’s Charleston Battery and Richmond Kickers.
West Brom will play Orlando on Wednesday, July 15 at the 65,000-capacity Citrus Bowl before heading out to Charleston, South Carolina to play the Battery on Friday, July 17 and finally taking the trip to Richmond, Virginia to play the Kickers on Sunday, July 19.
West Bromwich Albion are managed by Tony Pulis, who will be meeting up with his son Anthony who is the assistant coach for Orlando City as well as a former player for the Lions.
“We’re going to States because the opposition is strong but also because the players will have to work in heat and humidity, which will make it more beneficial for their fitness,” said Pulis.
“Orlando will be an especially tough game for us. We played them when I was with Stoke, but they’ve now become an MLS side so they play to a very high standard themselves.”
So far this year, the following Premier League teams have announced preseason friendlies in the United States: Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Swansea City, Newcastle United, and now WBA.
