Vinícius Júnior scored Brazil’s lone goal in their win yesterday, a result that secured their place at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

But not everything was good news for the Real Madrid star, as he finished the match with an apparent injury.

Vinícius Júnior’s injury with Brazil

According to Marca, “Vinícius Júnior appears to be injured, but more clarity is expected in the coming hours. Real Madrid plays in the Club World Cup in just one week.”

The extent of the injury should be confirmed soon, and the outlet reminds readers that Real Madrid’s first match in the tournament is set for the 18th of this month—just seven days away.

Fans and staff alike are hoping the injury isn’t serious and that Vini will be available for Real Madrid’s Club World Cup debut.

Ancelotti speaks after Brazil’s victory

Following the match, Brazil’s new head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who recently stepped down from Real Madrid, addressed the media.

“It’s very rare in soccer for everything to go perfectly, but over the last 15 days, everything has gone well,” said Ancelotti.

He also touched on the demands of the modern game: “Modern soccer is about intensity—with and without the ball. Pressing is key because it prevents the opponent from playing their game. The challenge is that pressing requires running, sacrifice, commitment, and the right attitude—and the team showed all of that in these two matches.”

He emphasized: “Pressing is crucial, but you’ve got to run.”

On Vinícius, Ancelotti noted that he can shine for Brazil just as he does for Real Madrid “without any problem.” As for Barcelona winger Raphinha, he praised his blend of talent and “extraordinary physical work rate.”

Ancelotti also addressed the absences of Neymar and Rodrygo Goes, making it clear the door is open for both. On Neymar, he added: “Neymar visited us at the team hotel today. We greeted him, hugged him. Where can he play? Neymar can play anywhere on the pitch.”
