FC Barcelona and Real Madrid clashed in a thrilling Copa del Rey 2025 final in Sevilla, in a game that had to be defined in extra time. After a tense battle and falling behind earlier, Jules Koundé delivered the winning goal that secured the trophy for Barcelona.

The Copa del Rey final was full of emotion for both teams. Pedri opened the scoring for Barcelona with a tremendous strike in the 28th minute, but second-half substitutions helped Real Madrid turn the match around. Kylian Mbappe scored from a free kick in the 70th minute, and Aurélien Tchouaméni added a header in the 77th to put Los Blancos ahead.

Ferran Torres forced extra time with a crucial goal in the 84th minute, setting the stage for a dramatic finish. With the game tied 2-2 in the second half of extra time, Kounde intercepted a pass from Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric at the edge of the box and unleashed a furious strike toward the post in the 115th minute, leaving goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with no chance to stop it.

With only five minutes left on the clock, Real Madrid were unable to find an equalizer, allowing Barcelona to clinch the Copa del Rey trophy and the accompanying prize money with Koundé’s goal. It also marked another nightmare for Los Blancos, who have now lost all three clashes against their longtime rivals this season—one in La Liga, one in the Spanish Super Cup final, and now in the Copa del Rey final.

The final also highlighted the contrasting seasons both teams are experiencing. Real Madrid’s only remaining hope is La Liga, where they trail Barcelona by four points. Meanwhile, the Blaugrana are living a dream season, leading the domestic league and preparing for the UEFA Champions League semifinals.
