With several matches still to be played on Thursday’s slate, Inter Miami has officially punched its ticket to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Leagues Cup after a solid 3-1 win over Pumas UNAM at Chase Stadium in Florida. Under the leadership of Javier Mascherano, the team collected two wins and one draw (with a shootout victory), giving them eight points and securing a top spot in the MLS standings during the group stage.

While the tournament is still waiting for a few more results to finalize all matchups, two teams have already confirmed their quarterfinal spots: the Seattle Sounders and Inter Miami, who finished first and second respectively among the MLS participants.

On the Mexican side, Toluca, managed by Antonio “Turco” Mohamed, became one of the first Liga MX teams to qualify. The reigning Clausura 2025 champions also hit the eight-point mark and secured at least a quarterfinal berth. Pachuca and Tigres UANL are also through, though final seeding in Liga MX is still pending the outcome of FC Juárez’s upcoming match.

Potential Leagues Cup 2025 quarterfinal matchups

As of now, this is how the Leagues Cup quarterfinal bracket is shaping up:

  • Seattle Sounders (MLS 1) vs. Puebla (Liga MX 4)
  • Pachuca (Liga MX 2) vs. Orlando City SC (MLS 3)
  • Toluca (Liga MX 1) vs. Portland Timbers (MLS 4)
  • Inter Miami (MLS 2) vs. Tigres UANL (Liga MX 3)

These matchups bring plenty of excitement, especially with Inter Miami set to face Tigres, one of the most successful clubs in recent Liga MX history. Even with Lionel Messi sidelined due to injury, the Herons continue to look sharp and hungry for silverware.
