Florian Wirtz has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in European soccer in recent years, dazzling fans with his performances for Bayer Leverkusen. Now, Liverpool have reportedly secured his signing for €150 milliona staggering figure that has fans wondering whether this is the most expensive transfer in Premier League history.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool reached a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday for a deal worth up to €150 million, including add-ons. The move not only sets a landmark for the Merseyside club, but also represents a significant moment in the history of the league.

Once the signing becomes official, Wirtz will become the most expensive transfer in Premier League history. The German star will surpass Moises Caicedo in the top 1 position, who joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023 for €133 million.

Liverpool reportedly beat out Bayern Munich in the race to sign Wirtz. The 21-year-old agreed to personal terms with the Reds two weeks ago, and is now set to undergo medical tests and sign his contract in the coming days. With the 2025–26 campaign on the horizon, Wirtz is shaping up to be one of the season’s most anticipated talents.
