The opening round of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup will wrap up on Tuesday, as Canada hosts Honduras at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.

Canada is coming off a penalty shootout loss to Ivory Coast last Tuesday after a 0-0 draw in regulation, while La H defeated Antigua and Barbuda 2-0 that same day in World Cup qualifying.

Canada’s form heading into the match

Canada enters this Gold Cup campaign full of confidence as they aim to lift the trophy for a third time—and the first since 2000.

Last week, they took part in the inaugural Canadian Shield Invitational, where they recorded their first clean sheet of the year despite falling to Ivory Coast in penalties. Head coach Jesse Marsch has lost just one match in regulation over his last 10 games in charge, and the team hasn’t lost on home soil since November 2023.

Les Rouges are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Honduras, including a 1-0 victory at BC Place back in November 2015.

Honduras’ form heading into the match

Honduras has enjoyed a near-perfect 2025 so far, winning four of their five international matches this year.

During that stretch, coach Reinaldo Rueda has seen his side keep three clean sheets, and they’ve won their last four matches by a combined score of 10-3. However, Honduras traditionally struggles in Gold Cup openers, having lost four of their last five first group stage matches, including a 4-0 defeat to Mexico two years ago.
