A new proposed Barcelona kit for 2015/16 has been leaked featuring hoops, according to the Catalan daily SPORT. The club’s sponsor, Nike, planned the revolutionary design that would radically change from La Blaugrana’s traditional stripes.

SPORT claim that the new design has already been approved by Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, but members of the club’s board of directors are unaware of the reported change in the kit’s design.

The proposed away shirt will once again be in the colors of the Catalan flag.

At no time during the 115-year history of the club have Barcelona worn hoops. The club’s shirt with its classic vertical scarlet and blue stripes is one of the most iconic jerseys in all of sports.

From the moment the images became public, they were met with immediate disapproval from Barcelona fans.
