Thanks for the nomination, much appreciated. It’s great to see Chelsea 2D mentioned alongside some of the blogging greats. Not sure I’ll spend too much time crafting an acceptance speech, though. I guess I’m sharing the same thoughts as JT and co. … there’s always next year (bar a mathematical miracle).

Whoever nominated my site, thanks! I happen to think there are a couple sites listed above that are better than Cartilage Free Captain, but it’s awesome that someone thought to put us up for this award. We’re in the “happy just to be nominated” camp.

Have to say, both very close competitors. Difficult to choose.
But i’ve cast my vote.

May 6, 2011 at 7:33 pm
Has to be ROM for me. The people on here critisizing Scott for not BASHING the team, when they are top of the league are deluded. Difference between the Arseblog and ROM is obvious.= The simple difference between the two clubs. United, a club built on the foundations laid out by the babes, and Sir Matt- with great importance put on believing, and supporting the team through thick and thin.Whereas The Arseblog is purely made for bitter Arsenal fans, unhappy with their shit team.
Why does STR need to start bitching, when this current united team is NOT under achieving? Top of the league, and in the champions league final.. Whats there to criticize? Arsenal on the other hand, have simply gone backwards. Have not done anything worth mentioning in the past couple of years, and are just not on the same level as a club like United.
What most fans need to realise is that, Arsenal, Chelsea and certainly City are not on the same level as united. So, I totally understand why STR would post things about your pathetic, fickle fans, especially when winning things are becoming so typical for a club like united. Personally I enjoy hearing what everyone has to moan about, especially after listening to all their early hopes, and predictions. Haha.

May 6, 2011 at 12:00 pm
I’m an LFC fan, but it has to be said that the actual quality of the writing on EOTK is pretty poor. Yes, they have a big following, so they’ll win a popularity contest, but they’re nowhere near the “best” Liverpool blog. TIA and Tomkins are better on this list, and plenty more have been missed.

Has to be EOTK! Well thought out, balanced and creative. The next nearest would be this is anfield but they take themselves way too seriously over there!!!
Dragonshadow
May 6, 2011 at 4:57 am
I’m surprised no-one has mentioned This Is Anfield yet! Best Liverpool fan site and blog on the web. Their stuff is creative, original and sometimes extremely humorous! Much better than EOTK.
Oh, and if Republic of Mancunia could be disqualified from the voting, it’d really be appreciated. Cheers gaffer.

May 6, 2011 at 3:56 am
Thanks for including us (Arsenal Report) in this competition, even though it’s a popularity contest at its core – the site with the most readers will always win, regardless if they’re the ‘best’ or not. 😉
Just a suggestion: giving out the award only to new blogs would probably get you more balanced results in the future, as most of those who already read ROM, EOTK or Arseblog will pick them by default. If they don’t have their usual options, they will have to really look through the options and decide which one they think is the best one.

dont vote for ‘republik of mancunia’ they are scum. and i dont say this for no reason. look at this website http://bit.ly/gmkMGl . a website by them is selling that disgusting merchandise mocking the Hillsborough tragedy. Football rivalries should be risen above when there is a matter of life and death, and they clearly dont have basic human compassion or respect. so dont vote for them, they dont deserve it. scum bags
TomP
May 7, 2011 at 7:22 am
they dont mock hillsborough.. i find it pretty scandalous you would be allowed to come out with comments like that. is there no moderation on here?
can we say that empire of the kop mocks munich? we could and there would be as much truth in it as this comment.. but we don’t need to sink to that level. fancy using the memory of those 96 fans who died to badmouth others is a flippin blog competition! no limit to the depths scousers will sink!

ROM wins hands down! So what if it’s biased, Whats the point in it being a Utd blog if it’s going to be straight down the middle! It’s a place where us Utd fans can get together share views have a rant and all the rest! All the articles are top notch.
You are all quick enough to slag it off but i see enough bitters, rentboy lovers and any other ABU’s on there. If you hate it that much why do u bother reading it!and just remember…your hate makes us stronger!!!

Can I request that Republic of Mancunia is removed from the voting. As a lifelong United fan I would appreciate if this vile individual who sells t-shirts mocking the Heysel stadium disaster on his website, is not chosen to represent our club. I don’t want to discuss sick chants or which fans are better or worse, I just find it offensive that as a Manchester United supporter, this vile hateful blog is representing my club.

i read sometimes other EPL team blog, some are good but nothing come close to Arseblog or 7 am kickoff

May 5, 2011 at 6:22 am
Why Arseblog is awesome:
– 1- The first ever blog to write something from.
– 2- The world’s most commented blog
– 2- Arseblogger has amazing talent in writing, communication and analysis.
– 3- Arseblog doesn’t talk about what’s going on other teams’ yards. He focuses the one and only Arsenal.
– 4- Tim Stillman, the Tim Stillman (Little Dutch) column.
– 5- Ocasionally gets inside Arsenal news, interviews players and PHW. The Sun and Goal.com visit there few times to see some content to steal.
– 6- Arseblog doesn’t copy/paste like ROM. They create their content.
– 7- Arsecast, the weekly Arsecast.
– 8- Posts daily. Doesn’t miss a day without writing a fresh Arsecontent.
– 9- The live text commentary and chat on matchdays.
– 10- Writes the name of Spurs as “Sp*rs”
Why I don’t like R.O.M
– 1- Post 4 times a day (a video of Cantona kicking a fan and several copy/paste things about Fabregas mentioning the name of Barcelona on his facebook account and Szczesney Tweeting about Ashley Cole missing a penalty, and an interview of John Terry via The Chelsea FC Blog), but they don’t post anything the rest of the week. Next week Manchester United loses and they write a list of 10 points of how rubbish is Micheal Carrick, why world’s highest goal scorer will never start against a top-six team and how the referee was miserable and Chelsea scoring an offsite goal.)
– 2- Sometimes I wonder whether it’s Goal.com or a Manc blog. Loads of Manchestery City stories. Pictures of Super Mario, Yayo Toure and Carloz Teves.
– 3- Old stories about why Cantona kicked a fan and that John Terry miss.
– 4- Van Persie’s handball against Birmingham City.
– 5- Cristiano Ronaldo.
– 6- Stats, stats, stats. The amount of red cards Paddy Vieira received during his life time.
– 7- Van Persie getting injured.
– 8- Somebody switching from Manchester Red to Manchester Blue
– 9- Will Owen celebrate if he score against Liverpool or Newcastle?
– 10 – Why Aaron Ramsey did turn down to warm the benches of World’s BIGGEST team?
—————-
I vote for the ARSEBLOG
The Empire of the Kop is also awesome.

Who has actually listened to all of these to compare. Why would you listen to a bunch of fans of a club you don’t like. Bit stupid – the winner will be the ‘best’/most popular podcast of the best supported club with the least competition from same club podcasts, no?

May 5, 2011 at 6:14 am
Not always Clive. The Spurs Show won a couple of years ago (see http://epltalk.com/2009-best-epl-club-podcast/). I would argue that Arsenal has more supporters than Spurs fans worldwide.

Surely this poll won’t result in a winner that is truly considered “best” but will merely show which club has the most fans reading epl talk. (as will most of the player and manager polls as well)
The Gaffer
May 3, 2011 at 8:28 pm
Liam, quite the opposite. The EPL Awards are promoted across the Internet, so we get a cross-section of many different types of supporters and not just the most fans reading EPL Talk.

May 3, 2011 at 8:40 pm
Ahh, I underestimated your reach, fair Gaffer. My apologies. I still stand by my assertion that this vote in particular will yield the most one-eyed results, due simply to the nature of the topic – perhaps I’m a bit cynical/jaded based on yesterday’s perusal of most of the poll tallies.
The Gaffer
May 3, 2011 at 8:42 pm
There’s still almost three weeks to go before voting ends, so the tallies will change over time. Last year, we had over 30,000 votes. The majority of people still haven’t voted yet, so there’s still a lot to play for! 😉
Cheers,

ragequit obviously doesn’t read rom. look at the write up on the arsenal game. doesn’t even mention the pen owen should have had. can’t fans talk about the blogs they do like and why rather than bad mouthin others with lies?? seems very petty.
rom is the first site I go to every day. the match reactions are excellent, the stats are brilliant, the opinion pieces are really heart felt and there’s also the added bonus of giles oakley, who writes very detailed articles from the view of a fan from the 50s. as for biased, of course it is, it’s a United blog. if you don’t want to read a biased United view.. don’t read a United blog.
ragequit
May 4, 2011 at 7:13 am
TomP – I did and its blatantly inaccurate. Talking about Arsenal only having ‘one chance’ which is ridiculous to anyone who watched the match. Ignores Vidic’s handball – why was that not important?
ragequit
May 2, 2011 at 5:42 pm
ROM is terrible. As much as team blogs are inherently bias, that one takes the cake. Fails at any attempt of objectivity. Arseblogger is funny, insightful, and at least can write critical and insightful posts when they’re called for. ROM simply falls back on blaming refs, posting old youtube clips from seasons ago referring to incidents where United supposedly got hard done by as if they have some relevance today!

Not that I am going to debate the merits of Rom, over Arseblogger, as I have never viewed it, you seem to know quite a lot about ROM though?
For someone who does not appreciate its content, hypocrisy springs to mind?.
PS Enjoy watching United on Wedensday eh, march into the Champions league final,do you no this situation, a Champions league final, or even a cup in the last 6 years.Ohh so bitter Arsenal. lol.

Erm….. Arsenal have been in a UCL final. They lost to Barca, sound familia? Only lost to them once though!
Though I’d comment, don’t want you looking silly.

RedScot – I did used to enjoy reading RoM a while back – even as a non-United fan – but I feel its become worse for the reasons I’ve just mentioned. If United happen to lose or draw it seems to be always the fault of the ref or the opposition ‘cheating’ but rarely the team. Tough love, every team has to deal with that. I’m not saying write from an non-United fan pov but some balance would go some way to making me enjoy it more.

Completely agree – Blogs are always going to be biased and written in a humourous way, however Arseblog can at least talk about the shortcomings of the team and provide an excellent analysis of a match/the team/etc. RoM is an entertaining read sure, however it is so incredibly biased and centered around how Man U are cheated so regularly, that it is embarrassing. Also, the regularity that he writes entire articles purely to mock Man City/Arsenal is just petty and unnecessary. Any blog writer could focus hours on writing whole posts mocking their rivals, yet no other respected blogger seems so intent on writing about other teams to such an extent, pointing out every shortcoming of the team/players/manager. Even his response here is ridiculous – isn’t this thread about which blog is best?
A good blog sure, but not a patch on Arseblog which ticks all the required boxes a decent football blog should, and more. Far and away the best around.

ROM, is certainly the best and brightest United blog listed, although Red Rants provides great fron line articles. There are so many great United forums, like Truly Reds,United Rant,Busby Way and the new and up coming RedFlagFlyingHigh.
Arse blog always wins it though, do they not…….Same old Arsenal, always cheating.lol

RedScot, you legend! He’s right you know, there are loads of other great United blogs out there, United Rant is a particular favourite of mine. And I would say Truly Reds as well…….

You have to love ROM fans.
The site that goes dark whenever United loses….yet posts 5 articles the night of every victory. Wonder why?
Also, why is it they spend half their time telling others to stop crying about the ref after United wins yet writes conspiracy theory stories about refs after losses?
The stupidity and hypocrisy at the site is HILARIOUS

Scott The Red deserves this accolade, though I believe a certain Giles Oakley should also be given some credit here for enriching ROM with some fantastically well written and meticulously constructed pieces that often appear on the site.

Comparing ROM to all the others is like comparing sharone stone to a kidney stone.
REPUBLIK OF MANCUNIA – the best blog, for the best team

Well they say a Rolling stone gathers no moss. So a roll with Sharon Stone wouldn’t attract Kate Moss. By definition then I would prefer a kidney stone. I’d rather shaft a miserable imaciated supermodel than a porky 80’s one hit wonder. However I did vote for RoM as Scott is top dog when it comes to footy blog.
