The excitement is building to welcome former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Clint Dempsey to Major League Soccer. This marks a mammoth move for the best supported team in the top flight American league, but it doesn’t come cheaply. Dempsey is reported to be wages of £100,000 a week at Seattle after Major League Soccer paid a transfer fee of £6million for the talented American.

While tonight marks the end of the chapter of Dempsey’s life that saw him play at Fulham and Spurs, today marks a new chapter in his second stint in Major League Soccer.

However, MLS still has major challenges facing them if they want to continue to improve as a league. A perfect example is tonight’s game between Seattle and FC Dallas, which isn’t being televised nationwide in this country.
