Real Madrid host RB Leipzig on Wednesday, October 21 in the Champions League off the back of three straight wins. Real Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1 last Sunday, then needed a 4-3 scoreline to get past Roma on October 14, and opened that stretch with a 1-0 win over Villarreal on October 10. The goals have come freely in two of those three games, and Real Madrid arrive with momentum on their side. A fourth consecutive win would keep their group stage campaign on track.

RB Leipzig come into this match having split their last three results. Bayern beat them 6-1 on October 17, a heavy defeat that followed a 1-0 win over PSV four days earlier and a 6-0 rout of Frankfurt on October 10. That mix of a big win, a narrow one, and a lopsided loss leaves RB Leipzig looking to respond on the road. This trip to Madrid is a chance to show the Bayern result was an outlier rather than a trend.

Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have met four times, with Real Madrid winning two, RB Leipzig winning one, and one draw between them. The sides played out a 1-1 draw in Madrid on March 6, 2024, before that Real Madrid had won 1-0 away in Leipzig on February 13, 2024. RB Leipzig’s only win in the series came at home, 3-2, on October 25, 2022, while Real Madrid also won 2-0 at home on September 14, 2022.
