The UEFA Women’s Champions League draw for the last eight took place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday. Holders Lyon will take on Chelsea while Arsenal have been pitted against Bayern Munich. Elsewhere, Barcelona will face Roma while PSG take on Wolfsburg.

The draw opens up a potential semi-final between Lyon and Barcelona in what would be a repeat of the competition’s 2019 and 2022 finals.

Arsenal avoided a stern test with Lyon having already played the French giants in the group stages.

However, seeing off Bayern Munich will mean that the Gunners would face either PSG or Wolfsburg for a place in the final.

The North London side have struggled to score goals this season while Bayern, too, have been inconsistent. Thus, either side would fancy their chances for a place in the last four.

Chelsea face tough draw

Chelsea, meanwhile, have the tougher draw among the English sides. Despite injuries, Lyon will be a huge test for the Blues and the French club are 8-time winners of the competition. Both clubs are frontrunners in their respective leagues and it remains to be seen if Chelsea’s attacking prowess can unsettle the applecart.

Both the London-based clubs be away for the first legs ties that are scheduled to be played on 21st and 22nd March. The second leg home ties will be played a week later.

The semifinals are scheduled to be held on April 22nd and 23rd. The final of the competition will be played at PSV Eindhoven’s Phillips Stadion on June 3rd.
