Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly leading the chase for West Brom striker Saido Berahino, who has strongly hinted he will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who has scored 14 goals and earned his first full international cap, has expressed his desire to move "on to bigger things".

But recent Premier League history is stocked with stories of top prospects who fail to make the grade after picking the wrong high-profile move.

Wilfred Zaha returned to Crystal Palace on a permanent basis this week after spectacularly failing to live up to his billing at Manchester United.

Here, Press Association Sport takes a look at Berahino's possible destinations – and the places that might suit him best.

LIVERPOOL

With Mario Balotelli mis-firing and injury questions over Daniel Sturridge, Brendan Rodgers is still searching for an answer to his striking problems. The prospect of matching Berahino's pace with that of Raheem Sterling is a mouth-watering one.

TOTTENHAM

Harry Kane is the undoubted star at White Hart Lane these days and he would no doubt be delighted to link up with his fellow former England Under-21 star. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could truly covet a strike-force for the future.

ARSENAL

If any top boss can bring the best out of a fledgling talent it is surely Arsene Wenger. With the Gunners battling to make up ground on Chelsea and Manchester City, it would be no surprise if they were back in the running for Berahino in the summer.

EVERTON

Berahino is plainly a player whom Roberto Martinez admires and would find a way to get the best from at Goodison Park. But Everton's relatively lowly position – and prospects – in the Premier League this season could count against them.

SOUTHAMPTON

On the face of it the attack-minded, high-flying Saints represent an eminently sensible next step for Berahino. But with his head turned by so many giants, any Berahino move to St Mary's would have to appear unlikely.
