Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery has agreed terms with the Bavarian giants for a new 5-year deal at the club, which will see him turning out for the Bundesliga Champions and Champions League runners-up until the age of 32. Franck Ribery has been under intense transfer speculation since his move to Munich from Marseille in 2007. The Frenchman has been linked to a host of clubs – most notaly Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Ribery’s ability to combine with Bayern favourite and ex-Madrid player Arjen Robben has been a particular highlight for the Bavarians this season, and if they can hold on to star players like Ribery, they may certainly be favourites to go all the way in the Champions League again next season.
Ribery’s form heading out of a very successful season with Bayern Munich will be welcomed warmly by Les Bleues manager Raymond Domenech with the World Cup in South Africa just around the corner. The French National Team will be without workhorse Lassana Diarra and the creativity of Arsenal playmaker Samir Nasri, so an on-form Franck Ribery will go far for the French, who took a turbulent route in qualifying for this year’s World Cup.
Franck Ribery has contributed 4 goals and 5 assists in 10 league starts for the Bavarians this season.
