Fox Soccer Channel and Setanta Sports To Merge?

Christopher Harris

Setanta Sports, who have reportedly been in financial trouble in the United Kingdom, have long worked with Fox Soccer Channel to share Premier League rights in the United States, and the potential merger is seen as a marriage of convenience in the U.S. as well as an opportunity for Fox to expand its reach in the UK where it currently has no footprint.

The new company, to be named Foxtanta Sports (or Fanta, for short), is expected to combine its Dublin and Los Angeles workforces to create an international brand delivering sparking soccer entertainment.
