Erling Haaland‘s remarkable impact at Manchester City has firmly established him as one of the most prolific goal scorers in modern soccer. With his latest goal against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Norwegian striker has outshone Premier League legends such as Thierry Henry, Mohamed Salah, and Sergio Aguero by achieving a historic milestone.

City invested over €60 million plus add-ons to secure Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 — a move that has paid immediate dividends. In his debut season, Haaland netted 36 goals in 35 matches, setting a new record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League campaign. Now, he’s reached yet another significant achievement.

With his 11th-minute penalty against Brighton, Haaland became the fastest player in Premier League history to reach 100 goal contributions. Across just 94 appearances, the Norwegian has tallied 84 goals and 16 assists — a staggering feat that eclipses previous records.

The previous holder of this record was Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, who reached 100 goal contributions in 100 matches. Mohamed Salah and Eric Cantona followed with 116, while Sergio Aguero (118) and Thierry Henry (121) completed the list — highlighting Haaland’s impressive gap over some of the league’s greatest.

Despite Manchester City’s challenging season — having been eliminated from both the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League title race — Haaland has remained a standout performer. The prolific striker has scored 29 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions, providing a bright spot in an otherwise difficult campaign.

Pep Guardiola praises Haaland’s remarkable form

Having managed some of the world’s greatest talents throughout his career, Pep Guardiola has consistently recognized Haaland’s exceptional performances. Ahead of City’s clash with Brighton, Guardiola praised the Norwegian’s achievements while challenging him to keep raising the bar.

I’ve been with Messi, but it’s incredible what Erling has done. I want more from him. He has to help us more and more to achieve what we want to do this season. But the numbers are incredible since he arrived,” Guardiola said in a pre-match press conference.

Guardiola has frequently hailed Lionel Messi as the greatest player in soccer history, yet he continues to commend Haaland’s immense impact at Manchester City. As Haaland continues to thrive, the Norwegian remains a constant threat in front of goal — a key figure in City’s ambitions for silverware.
