Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, home to Cristiano Ronaldo, has reportedly set its sights on Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo, labeling him a “dream target.” The question is, would Chelsea be willing to part ways with the Ecuadorian star?

The 23-year-old Caicedo is considered one of the top players in his position in the Premier League this season. His stellar performances also extend to the Ecuadorian national team, making him a natural target for clubs with deep pockets. As the European summer transfer window approaches, Saudi Arabian teams are already making moves.

According to The Telegraph, the Saudi Pro League team, led by CR7 and also featuring Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, and Jhon Durán, views Caicedo as a highly desirable addition to their squad.

Al-Nassr currently sits third in the Saudi Pro League, eight points behind league leaders Al-Ittihad, and has advanced to the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League.

Chelsea’s stance: Not for sale

However, Chelsea, who paid a record fee for Caicedo in mid-2023 (reportedly $145 million), highly value the player and, with his contract running until 2031, have no plans to sell him in the near future.

Caicedo impressed in his debut season with Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino. This season, now with Enzo Maresca at the helm for his second year at Stamford Bridge, he has elevated his performance to another level.

His manager recently showered him with praise: “At the moment, he is one of the best, if not the best, defensive midfielders in the world.”

He is doing wonderfully. The best thing about Moi is that he works seriously every day. He is very humble, very kind, and educated. He is a fantastic guy,” added the Italian coach.

Caicedo comfortable in the Premier League

Caicedo himself believes that his four years in the Premier League, first with Brighton, have greatly improved his game. In an interview in January, the Chelsea midfielder stated: “In soccer, especially in the Premier League, there are always ups and downs. I have learned a lot both when things have gone against me and when they have gone in my favor. I learn something new in every game. I have learned thousands of things.”

Given the level of English soccer, his youth, and the desire to arrive competitively at the 2026 World Cup with Ecuador, it doesn’t seem like the Ecuadorian is thinking about making a move now.

Premier League: The ultimate test

The Premier League is the best league in the world because there are so many talented players; fast, strong, and quality. In this league, you face everything. Anything can happen. You can play against a team at the bottom of the table and feel like you are playing against one of the best. That’s why it’s fantastic that in every game you have to compete, give everything, and show your quality.”

For now, it seems Al-Nassr’s “dream target” may remain just that, as Chelsea appears determined to hold onto their prized midfielder. The summer transfer window is sure to bring more twists and turns, but Caicedo’s immediate future seems firmly rooted at Stamford Bridge.
