Two years on from his move to Milan, Christian Pulisic has finally opened up about his life in Italy, reflecting on a difficult yet personally fulfilling season and addressing the questions that have followed him since leaving Chelsea and the Premier League.

While Milan failed to meet expectations during the 2024-25 campaign—finishing outside the European qualification spots—Pulisic emerged as one of the few bright spots. With 17 goals in 50 appearances, he was the club’s top goalscorer, a consistent and creative force in an otherwise inconsistent side. Yet, speculation swirled about his future as contract talks remained unresolved and other stars began eyeing the exit.

Amid this uncertainty, the USMNT star has delivered a five-word response that perfectly summed up his outlook, putting to rest any doubts about his decision to swap London for Milan.

From Stamford Bridge to San Siro

The move from Chelsea to Milan in the summer of 2023 came with both pressure and promise. Pulisic had enjoyed memorable moments in London, including a Champions League title, but his role at Stamford Bridge had become sporadic. For the American winger, Milan wasn’t just a transfer—it was a statement.

“I had a good time in London [with Chelsea], but to take the next step I had to find a big club that really wanted me and that gave me the opportunity right away when I arrived,” Pulisic told Lega Serie A“It was really an incredible step in my career.”

That five-word phrase—“incredible step in my career”—was a subtle yet powerful answer to those asking whether he harbored regrets about leaving the Premier League. The 26-year-old forward made it clear: this was the right move, both professionally and personally.

Wearing Milan’s shirt with pride

Despite the team’s collective struggles, Pulisic’s passion for Milan is unmistakable. Throughout the season, he often carried the team’s attacking hopes, and his enthusiasm for the club and city has only grown. “Wearing the Milan shirt is incredible. Obviously, for the history of this club. There have been legendary players, legendary teams. So it’s really an honor for me every time I can wear the Milan shirt,” he said.

For Pulisic, San Siro is more than a stadium. It’s become a place of renewal, confidence, and belief. His debut goal at the iconic ground was a moment he will never forget. “Being at San Siro and scoring in my first game was an amazing start and gave me a lot of confidence going forward,” he recalled.
