With the European transfer window in full swing, it’s time for decisions among football’s biggest stars. After the Club World Cup, Thomas Müller has officially said goodbye to Bayern Munich and is now ready to embark on a new adventure in the final stage of his career.

The 35-year-old attacking midfielder played his final minutes in a Bayern jersey during the tournament held in the United States. It marked the end of 25 joyful years at the club, which he joined at age 10 through their youth academy.

The World Cup champion with Germany, who famously defeated Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final and knocked them out in the 2010 quarterfinals, confirmed that his next destination will be Major League Soccer (MLS) through a humorous video posted on his social media accounts.

Styled like a Wild West clip, Müller announced that he’ll cross the Atlantic to join a U.S.-based team—though his specific club has yet to be revealed. Los Angeles FC and FC Cincinnati have emerged as the frontrunners in recent hours.

This move will mark Müller’s first club outside of Bayern Munich, where he made an incredible 752 appearances, scored 250 goals, and delivered 237 assists. His trophy cabinet includes 33 titles, with two UEFA Champions League crowns standing out.

Messi gets a new rival in MLS

As Lionel Messi continues to thrive in Florida with Inter Miami, where he’ll now share the pitch with fellow World Cup winner Rodrigo De Paul, he’ll also have to keep an eye on the arrival of Thomas Müller, who brings loads of experience and will now be one of Messi’s most decorated opponents in the league.

It’s worth noting that MLS is stacking up big names: Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba are all teammates of Messi at Inter Miami, while other stars like Hugo Lloris, Marco Reus, Olivier Giroud, and Miguel Almirón are also part of the league’s growing list of high-profile talents.
