The news that Gianluigi Donnarumma has been left out of the PSG squad by Luis Enrique and could leave the French club has sent shockwaves through the soccer world in recent hours. The Spanish manager has excluded the Italian goalkeeper from the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup final against Tottenham, sparking intense speculation about his future.

The Italian international released a statement expressing his disappointment with PSG and confusion over the decision to remove him from the group. Without directly naming Luis Enrique, he appeared to point the finger at the coach: Unfortunately, someone has decided that I cannot be part of the group or contribute to the team’s success. I am disappointed.”

According to L’Équipe, Donnarumma already has a new club lined up — Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola, a former colleague of Luis Enrique at Barcelona.

The French outlet reports that “Donnarumma has already reached an agreement with Manchester City” and that PSG would move forward with Lucas Chevalier — signed for a fixed fee of €40 million — as their new first-choice goalkeeper.

Talks with Guardiola and rebuffing other offers

Italian media also claim that Donnarumma, who was also wanted by Manchester United, has already spoken directly with Guardiola and reached an agreement with the City board.

Should the move be finalized, the Italian shot-stopper — feeling wronged by Luis Enrique — would now seek refuge in the “arms” of Guardiola, marking a major shift in his career and PSG’s goalkeeping plans.
