Sunderland have signed Italian midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus on a four-year contract.

The 28-year-old footballer can play as an attacking midfielder or winger.  At Juventus, he helped the club win the Italian Serie A title twice, first in 2011-12 and again last season.

Giaccherini has played 14 times for Italy, and featured twice at Euro 2012 where Italy finished runners-up in the tournament. He also played in the 2013 Confederations Cup in June, 2013.

The talented midfielder, who can play in the middle or out wide, began his career with Cesena and had loan spells with Forli, Bellaria Igea and Pavia.

Giaccherini made 40 league appearances for Juventus, scoring four goals.

So far, Sunderland have signed nine new players this summer, with more expected to arrive at the Stadium Of Light, while others are slated to leave including Danny Graham who looks set for a loan deal with Hull City.
