After a spectacular performance for the United States at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, defender Matt Besler has received a wide variety of interest from a number of European clubs including official bids from Fulham and Sunderland. Besler admitted to wanting the deal done as soon as possible.

“It’s a situation which needs to get resolved. I want to be staying in Kansas City if I’m going to stay. But if they’re going to sell me, then I want to know as soon as possible. It’s not just my decision. It’s the club’s decision if they want to sell or not. But I would definitely have an input on a team,” as told to Sports Radio 810.

His current contract with Sporting Kansas City is set to expire in 2015.

The Kansas City native also said that he’s been in contact with the USMNT Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who has been very vocal about wanting his team to test their strengths in Europe if given the right offers. Sunderland and Fulham are not the only clubs looking at Besler. Reports suggest that 10 teams are looking into the possible signing of Besler including nine Premier League teams and one Bundesliga team.

Besler has spent his entire career at Sporting Kansas City after being drafted out of Notre Dame University in 2009. He’s been voted to the MLS All-Star League, MLS Defender of the Year and MLS Best XI since joining the Wizards.

After first appearing in a friendly against Canada for the USMNT in 2013, he was rated the top performer at the CONCACAF 2014 World Cup qualifiers and started all four games during the 2014 World Cup that saw the U.S. finish second in their group and eventually lose to Belgium in the Round of 16.
