Week 22 witnessed a change near the top of the table as Juventus lost its 2nd straight match and slipped to 3rd in the standings. Cagliari took advantage of poor central defending from Juve to score 2 goals in the 2nd half to beat the Bianconeri 3-2 in Torino. 2nd half sub, Alessandro Matri scored the game winner in the 78 th minute to give the Sardinians their 4th straight win and move them to within 3 points of a European spot.

Beneficiaries of Juve’s loss were AC Milan who moved into 2nd place with an impressive 3-0 victory on the road against Lazio. Brazilians Pato & Kakà each scored their 10th of the season as the Rossoneri continue to play well boosted by David Beckham’s presence on the field.

Fiorentina moved back into 5th place with a 3-1 road win over Bologna. The match originally scheduled for Sunday was postponed till Monday because of snow making Bologna’s Stadio Renato Dall’Ara pitch unplayable. The match witnessed the return of Fiorentina’s Romanian talisman, Adrian Mutu. He scored twice in the first 16 minutes to seal the points for I Viola and put a charge into the Firenze side for a late season push.
