Late Winners Norwich Deflate Cardiff In Battle For Promotion

Today has been one of the stand out days in the Championship as Norwich and Cardiff took it in turns to occupy the final automatic place and deny Queens Park Rangers confirmation of their promotion to the Premier League.

Cardiff did their job by recording a relatively straight forward victory that relegates Preston North End.

In Norfolk, Norwich and Derby played out a thrilling second half in which Derby equalised twice to cancel out two Simeon Jackson goals and leave the Cardiff fans jumping for joy.

Celebrations from the travelling Cardiff fans were muted in the final moments of today’s action as Norwich had a final ace up their sleeve in injury time as Simeon Jackson completed his hat-trick in the third minute of extra time.

This see-saw was a beautiful advertisement of the Championship today and a delight for the neutral but agony for those supporting the clubs involved.

With goals galore, swings at the top and late drama to keep second place very much up for grabs.
